Audio editing
Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes even musicans do. With the help of nonstudio's online audio editing services almost any problem can be solved which might arise during a recording session. These services cover (not exclusively):
- Noise reduction
- Pitch correction
- Fixing wrong timing (most often on drum tracks)
- Time stretchnig (making tracks or loops fit the required tempo)
- Transposing vocal and instrument tracks
- Drum sound replacement
- Producing backing vocal harmonies from lead vocals
- Smoothing out uneven track levels
- Spatial enhancement
- General sound enhancement (e.g. making a track clearer, bigger, tighter etc.)
- Effects processing
- Sample rate, bit depth, audio file format conversion
How to prepare your tracks for editing
- Please write a detailed list of what you'd like to fix. For example include the source and the target tempo, key signiture, the required sound character or effect etc.
- Your tracks should be in an uncompressed audio format (e.g. wave, aiff), recorded at 44.1 kHz 24 bit or better resolution.
- If you recorded your tracks in other formats do not convert or resample them, unless you have top notch sample rate converters and you're fully aware of what you're doing.
- If you have the chance please switch off every:
- equalizers
- dynamics processors (e.g compressors, limiters)
- reverb and delay effects
- Make sure the output doesn't clip! Your track levels should not go beyond -0.0 dBfs especially if you recorded at a lower resolution. 24 bit signals peaking between -10 and -3 dBfs are fine.
